Sell your bike for free! -> Register here

This page explains some site topics in further detail. It's not really a proper FAQ yet, but more like a LTBAQ - made up of questions that are likely to be asked.

If you have any further questions, click here to ask.

Q. Who can place listings on ride.net.nz?
A. Any registered ride.net.nz member can add one forsale listing for free. Registration is just the normal process of choosing a name/password, and confirming an email address.

Q. Can I add photos to my listing?
A. Yes, up to ten photos, and you can set a caption for each photo. Any size photo file can be submitted, but large photos will automatically be resized so that the longer side of the photo is 640 pixels. Currently, photo files must be in JPEG format.

Q. How long will listings last for?
A. Currently, listings will remain until deleted.

Q. When I add a listing, how can interested parties contact me?
A. In the settings page, you can specify how you would like to be contacted. If you would like to keep your contact details out of public view, you can use ride.net.nz site messages - these are private messages between you and the interested rider.
If no method of contact is set, other members can add public comments on your listing to ask questions (if you prefer, public comments can be disabled for each listing).

Q. How will I know when I get messages?
A. When you have unread messages waiting, the tabs at the top of the page will appear like this:
On the messages page, unread messages will have a green check mark like this next to them. Clicking this icon will mark the message as read.

Q. How can I add more than one listing?
A. Adding more than one listing requires the purchase of ride.net.nz credit. See the 'Extra' page for more information.

Q. Is this an online auction website?
A. No.

Q. Why can't I see larger photos on the listing details page?
A. Some pages of the site make use of features which are not available in older web-browsers. This website (along with the rest of the internet) is best viewed with Opera 9, but has also been tested with Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2. Please try viewing the website with one of these browsers.

Q. What is a shortlist?
A. A shortlist is just a convenient list to hold the listings you are interested in, so you don't have to keep going back to the search page to find them again.
Clicking the small green plus icon on a search result will add it to the current shortlist. Clicking the red cross on a shortlist entry will remove it from the shortlist. You can save and load shortlists by clicking the main title of the shortlist panel. (Requires login)
