Although free listings are limited to one per user, dealers or other interested parties can add larger volumes of extra listings by purchasing credit.

Extra listings will be hosted for 10 cents each per day. Each day the system will check how many Extra listings are currently published and deduct that amount from the credit total. If the credit level reaches zero, the Extra listings will not be displayed.

This equates to approximately $3 per month, per listing.

With other websites like this, typically the fee for hosting a listing is only applicable to that one listing. Here at ride.net.nz, the available credit is not associated with any particular listing, giving rise to some interesting advantages:

• Your account can store any number of listings - only 'published' listings incur cost
• The initial outlay for publishing a new listing is only 10 cents
• If a bike sells quickly or a listing needs to be cancelled, the remaining credit can be used on other listings (as opposed to a 'listed until sold' scheme where the full price is always paid for each listing)
• Listings can be temporarily suspended and reactivated at any time

Since the fee is calculated on a daily basis instead of monthly or 'listed until sold', the cost for hosting a listing closely matches what the website is actually providing for you. It's worth noting though that 'listed until sold' can be good value too. To decide which is best for you, take the 'listed until sold' price, and divide it by 10 cents to see how many days that amount would support a listing on ride.net.nz. For example, $20 would cover 200 days (over 6 months) of hosting on ride.net.nz. Then consider whether you expect to sell the bike within this time period or not. If the bike is likely to sell in less than 200 days (and let's hope so!), the ride.net.nz method allows the remainder of that credit to be reused on other listings.
